Launching, paddling, and fishing
- Check weather, current tide predictions, wind, and inlet conditions before launching. NOAA’s nearby prediction reference is station 8660265, Cherry Grove (inside); predictions are not observed conditions.
- Wear an appropriate personal flotation device, carry required safety equipment, and do not block ramps or docks while loading.
- Anglers age 16 and older generally need a South Carolina saltwater recreational fishing license unless a specific exemption applies. Check current SCDNR license requirements and fishing regulations.
- Species, size limits, seasons, and daily limits change. The old undated list of “likely” catches has been removed.
For the neighboring island preserve, see the current Heritage Shores Nature Preserve guide.
