One can take a boat and get directly into the marsh and leave the waterway easily. It also allows you an inlet into the majestic Atlantic Ocean through the famous Hog Inlet. As a results the Cherry Grove Boat Landing is beautiful area to enjoy nature just a few minutes from your hotel or vacation rental. Inside the park and launch area, you can get public parking for the Famous Heritage Shores Nature Preserve that is nearby.
Boat Launch Details And Facilities
The park has quite a few facilities for your use and comfort. It comes with 2 lane boat launch so two boats can launch at one time, a small kayak or SUP-only launch area to the left as well as a dock to fish from shore. In addition to the launch there is two parking areas: a large paved lot with space for cars/trucks with trailers and a dirt lot for all other vehicles. The city asks you to only park in the paved area if you have a trailer. If you have a golf cart you may also park in the dirt lot next to the launch as well. Lastly, the Cherry Grove Boat landing does feature a public restroom for both men and women that you may use.
Apart from the above, there are quite a few other things which are great for families visiting the beach! There is a bird watching pavilion and it is the best place to be in for all those who would like to be close to nature. The picnic shelter is not used as frequently as others in the area and can be great for a small get-together.
What types of fish can you catch near the launch?
If you’re fishing from shore you’ll likely see many fishing from the docks above the launch. Typically these anglers are targeting:

- Redfish
- Flounder
- Bluefish
- Black Drum
While other fish/crabs may also be present, they’re not usually targeted as commonly:
- Sea Robins
- Small Blue Crabs
- Mullets (good for bait)
- Pinfish
- Whiting
- Croaker
